Falzarego Towers

Despite their diminutive size, the Falzarego Towers are extremely popular, and not without good reason since they have a collection of routes worthy of classic status. There are two towers, Torre Grande and Torre Piccola, the latter of which is most popular. The rock on both is solid, the holds feel custom-made for climbers and the exposure on the aretes is outstanding. Many of the routes have been re-equipped with cement rings both for belays and between pitches, and some even have red markers showing the way (we will leave you to decide if this is a good thing or not). The most popular routes have become polished but experienced climbers can deviate slightly from the most popular lines, finding rock of excellent quality whilst remaining (more or less) on route. The routes can often be climbed out of season when the cold keeps the crowds away and it is possible to abseil down the routes to avoid the snow-filled gullies. All this combined with a short approach and sunny aspect makes for a very pleasurable half-day outing, but also means that solitude is rarely to be found. The towers can also be easily accessed from the top of the pass, parking at the Lagazuoi cable car.
