Punta Fiames

Punta Fiames is part of the Pomagagnon group; a long ridge-line of peaks which towers above the town of Cortina d'Ampezzo. The group runs west to east, with Punta Fiames being the westmost peak and home to three climbs of note: the classic Via Dimai up the south face, the modern and difficult Paolo Rodera and Spigolo Jori/Fiames Arete, which tackles the sharp southeast arete. Via ferrata Michielli Strobel tackles the faces and ledges to the left of these routes, and all four share the excellent little summit, offering commanding views over much of the Dolomites. The approach to the three climbs is not to be underestimated, but fine climbing predominates on the upper walls of this peak. For via ferrata Michielli Strobel, continue along the road for a further 5km to reach the village of Fiames. Park by Hotel Fiames on the left-hand side of the road.
